Texas Server Connection Options

The Texas Server connections options dialog box can be found by selecting the "Options" button from the logon screen. Once found, there are two methods of connections at this screen, the first is the local connection and the second is the remote connection.

The remote connection should be selected by default. To use this method you must have a valid network connection between you and the server and valid user key. The key maybe stored on a smartcard or as a file on the local directory. If you are using the smartcard and have more than one reader on the machine, please select the correct reader. If however you are using a stored file, then please select the correct directory for the key.
The packet size should be selected in proportional to the quality of your network, so if you are connecting via a local area network, then the larger the packet size, or if you are connecting over a wide area wireless network, then the smaller the packet size.
You also have the option to add an alterative server address to connect to, this is important if the server’s IP address has changed.

The local connection is used when the client, server, and data files are all on computer. To use this method, please check the “Use Local Connection” box and select the “initial.exe” file within the texas server directory and the control file of the database (*.odc).
